Arkansas Auxcomm SKYWARN® is a group of trained volunteer weather spotters, who operate a free, ready-to-use, emergency radio network that covers most of the state.
While radar shows precipitation and rotation, it cannot see a tornado touching down, the size of hail, or the depth of flash flooding. Spotters bridge this gap. Trained volunteers report exact conditions - such as wind damage, 1 inch hail, or impassable roads - giving the public and responding agencies immediate visibility into developing crises.
